Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who has gained recognition for her performance in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. In the 80s the actress began her acting career, and was famous for her role as Tezaab, in which she starred with veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Her subsequent appearance on screen was Dil alongside Aamir. She was born into an Mumbai middle class family and started dancing at a young age. As a young woman when she began to act, she was not successful as a lot of her films were flops. She finally found success, and was one of the most prominent actors in the Indian film industry. Following her wedding, she took a absence from acting before returning. In the past, she was an integral character in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the challenges faced by women across India. Dixit won the film eight Filmfare Awards out of the fifteen she was nominated for. Dixit was also awarded her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honor in India. She has also been recognized for her efforts in the field of social work.
