Dennis Alan Taylor is a retired banker and Jennifer Marina Joy is a psychology. She is an Argentinean of Scottish, English and Argentinean heritage. The mother of her is Spanish-English. Taylor-Joy has four siblings from her father's prior marriage. The family moved to Buenos Aires to Victoria, London at the age of six when Taylor-Joy was born. Taylor Joy said the move from Buenos Aires, to Victoria was tough and she did not take the time to learn English in hopes of going back to Argentina. Hill House was the new school she had to attend after switching from Northlands. Then she enrolled in Queen's Gate School and studied ballet and performed in school's plays. At the age of 16, she dropped out of school to make a career of acting. Taylor-Joy's desire to become an actress professionally began at a very young age.
